I'm counting days till the Return of BSG. Therefore, lists!
Top #5 BSG Moments I Wish Had Never Happened:
5. Quadrangle of Doom. There were some lovely moments here and there, Dee slapping Kara, some hot kissing, but seriously. SHUTUP. Get over it. Something. Urgh.
4. Whatever it is that they're doing with Starbuck and Leoben. He's creepy and weird and I DO NOT WANT. Keep him *away* from the poor girl.
3. Baltar's Sex Cult. Yawn.
2. Billy/Dee/Lee. That was *painful* to watch.
1. Black Market. Does this require an explanation?
And Top 10 BSG Moments I Will Cherish Forever:
10. 'I love you.'
'About time.'
I don't always have OTPs. And if you told me during the mini that I'd ship Roslin/Adama I'd have laughed at you. I came into this fandom fully expecting to be a huge Starbuck fan and quite possibly shipping Kara/Lee, and then THEY happened. And I don't know how they grew on me, really, except that they did, and by the time I was watching S3 I was just... How are they so awesome? ♥
9. D'Anna holding Hera in Exodus II (or was it I?).
8. Boomer shooting Adama. Woah.
7. Tigh killing Ellen in Exodus II.
6. 'My name is Saul Tigh. I am an officer in the Colonial Fleet. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that's the man I want to be. And if I die today, that's the man I'll be.'
Oh, Tigh! Tigh, Tigh, Tigh. I vehemently disliked Tigh all throughout S1 and for a good part of S2. And then Season 3 happened. I have a hard time picking a favourite character in this show, but he is right up there with Adama, Roslin and Kara.
5. Caprica waking up in 'Downloaded'.
4. 'Don't, Captain. Don't do it. Don't look back. Sometimes, we have to leave people behind, so that we can go on. So that we can continue to fight. Sometimes, we have to do things that we never thought we were capable of, if only to show the enemy our will. Yesterday, you showed me that you were capable of setting aside your fear, setting aside your hesitation, and even your revulsion -- every natural inhibition that during battle can mean the difference between life and death. When you can be this for as long as you have to be, then you're a razor. This war is forcing us all to become razors because if we don't, we don't survive. And then we don't have the luxury of becoming simply human again.'
Razor
I've quote this entire scene because it's just.so.good. Michelle Forbes! Her voice, her face... *flails*
3. The entire opening sequence of Kobol's Last Gleaming. 'Passacaglia' playing in the background, Helo and Sharon, Lee and Adama, the lack of dialogue.
2. 'What do you hear, Starbuck?'
'Nothing but the rain.'
3.17, Maelstrom
1. Galactica jumping into the atmosphere of New Caprica. That yellow flash of light and the bagpipe in the background.
Show me yours.

Date: 2009-01-08 12:32 pm (UTC)And my top ten BSG moments I will CHERISH forever:
10) The opening of "Acts of Contrition", with Kara and Lee being UTTER FIVE YEAR OLDS, and Bill laughing at them, and Kara telling Husker stories about his 1000th landing and ohhh. Adamas.
9) That shot from "Epiphanies" of Helo and Sharon and baby Hera, where Helo reaches his hand into Hera's ventilator and touches her tiny baby fingers. Because ohhhh, Agathons. Happy Agathons for one brief shining moment.
8) Laura's freakout on Baltar in "Taking a Break from All Your Worries". Mary is a force of frakking nature and Callis just dishes it right back. And dude, Laura's fury makes even Saul Tigh take a step back.
7) Saul's scene with the unconscious Bill Adama in "Scattered", where he admits he's a shitty commander and orders "don't you dare die on me". I adore their hetero manspouse dynamic, and it was the moment where I fell completely and madly in love with Saul Motherfrakking Tigh.
6) Baltar's monologue about how he loved Caprica Six to Gina in "Pegasus", and the moment she slowly, agonizingly takes a slice of apple from the plate.
5) The Roslin/Adama kiss in "Resurrection Ship", because it was so unbelievably sweet and unexpected (for Mary, too - Eddie ad libbed it, and it was so perfect that they kept it in).
4) The end of "Crossroads Pt. 2", with "All Along the Watchtower, the Cylon fleet appearing, Lee jumping into his Viper, the Final Four Cylons figuring things out, and Kara appearing out of nowhere. And, of course, "my name is Saul Tigh. I am an officer in the Colonial Fleet. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that's the man I want to be. And if I die today, that's the man I'm going to be".
3) Lee's speech on the stand about Gaius Baltar and why they're just as culpable for what happened on New Caprica as he is. And fuck, I wish I could transcribe the entire thing, but it's too long. Just, amazing, every bit of it. The fact that it's Lee Adama, idealist and pilot, the boy who had to step out of his father's shadow, the boy who once cried over the Olympic Carrier to his President, the man who had the guts to cut and run when the Cylons appeared over New Caprica? Just makes it more amazing.
2) "What do you hear, Starbuck?" "Nothing but the rain." "Grab your gun and bring in the cat." "Boom, boom, sir." THEM. KARA AND BILL AND THEIR UTTER, UTTER LOVE. SHE'LL BREAK HIS HEART.
1) Laura Roslin, shaking hands and all, taking the oath of office in the miniseries. Just - their President is not only a woman, she's the former Secretary of Education, a schoolteacher, and the most dangerous and vindictive woman in the universe. She is amazing and wonderful and I love, love, LOVE that we have someone like her on television.

Oh, Adama/Tigh brOTP forever! Sometimes I think theirs is THE love story of the show, and if they were younger and prettier? This would the biggest ship in this fandom. Because they *are* that awesome. Guh.

Date: 2009-01-08 03:50 pm (UTC)1. Galactica crashing into the atmosphere of New Caprica.
2. The mind-frakking 1-year leap into the future and the arrival of the Cylons on New Caprica. "What do we do now, Captain?" "Fight 'em until we can't."
3. Boomer shooting Adama. The absolute mind-blowing SHOCK the first time I saw that, because it was SO unexpected.
4. Tigh killing Ellen. I'm NOT a Tigh fangirl, but that scene? Broke my heart.
5. Adama telling Laura that is was OK for her to go, that he wouldn't be selfish anymore, and putting the ring on her finger. I sat there with tears running down my face.
6. Unfinished Business.
What? So I'm an unrepentant pilot fangirl7. The entire miniseries.
8. 33
9. Helo killing Athena. The spray of blood on the wall (the realism of this show! OMG the realism!), his agony, Laura's understanding and yet distrust of the Cylon Athena.
10. Lee's defense of Gaius - that scene shows Lee in a nutshell, and gave Jamie such fantastic material to work with. And that Adama actually voted not guilty. That glimpse into Adama's mind - that as much as he detests Gaius and how he (Adama) has to deal on a day-to-day basis with the results of what Gaius did, he *still* has the openness of mind to actually listen to Lee, what Lee says, and acknowlege the realities and the truth of Lee's argument.
11. On a pure Pilots-shipping level, I love the end of Colonial Day - he looks like he's been hit with a 2x4 when he first sees her in that dress - and the next few scenes after - Kara thinking she's with Lee (I think that's sexier than the sex scene in Unfinished Business, frankly) and their come-to-blows confrontation after, when he realizes she's been with Gaius.
12. That last scene from Resolutions (did I remember the episode name right?). Earth, devestated. The characters, all devestated.

Date: 2009-01-09 08:58 am (UTC)I hear you on all of these! #11 was the beginning of my pilotshipping, which reached its peaks after Kara's return to Galactica and fizzled out post 'Black Market'. Sigh.
#10! The first time I watched it, I watched in a blind Adama loving, Gauis hating haze, and I was angry at Lee for Adama's sake (and Roslin's - *that* is something that still makes me hurt, because Roslin never says 'please' like that). I've rewatched since then, of course, and come to appreciate Lee more.

Date: 2009-01-08 06:47 pm (UTC)01. Galactica dropping into atmo!
02. SAUL TIGH BEING THE MAN HE WANTS TO BE.
03. "I love you." "About time."
04. The entirety of "Unfinished Business".
05. Sam holding the dying Sharon on the rogue Basestar.
06. Lee taking care of it in "Revelations".
07. The moment in the miniseries when they think Lee and Roslin are dead.
08. Roslin shouting at Baltar in TABFAYW.
09. Adama reading to Roslin (any old time, but especially in "Escape Velocity")
10. Helo and Sharon with Hera.
Gods, this show.
