you say goodbye, i say hello
Nov. 8th, 2009 08:48 pm+ Castle 1.05: Totally bowled over by the lovely backstoryness. Castle&Beckett(&Ryan&Esposito) are ♥. I love, especially, the respect Castle has for Beckett's story. He's a smartass, but he knows where the lines are.
+ Merlin 2.07: Easily the best episode of this season, although I'm partial to 2.03 for obvious reasons.
- I love it when Merlin plays with his magic, and hate that he always has to pay for it. Although, I suppose, the toad in the end was Merlin playing as well.
- That said, I don't suppose we'll ever see Morgana play with her magic? Or, rather, see her at all anymore, except when she is scared/terrified/being taken hostage? I read somewhere (ONTD to be precise) that Katie has been busy with another project, which, if true, makes it bearable – otherwise it's just the writers failing to write more than one girl at a time and that's INEXCUSABLE.
- But the other girl, oh my. GWEN IS MADE OF AWESOME, and she rocked my world in this episode. Gwen + Merlin = ♥♥♥ I love that she had agency in this episode, that she solved crimes and was protective ofher girlfriend Morgana and played the my dead father card with Arthur. More importantly, I'm glad she got to help Merlin save his father figure when she was so powerless in 1.03, when he was there for her, and again in 1.12, when he father died. It doesn't change that her father died, but at least she got to do this.
- Gwen's worry about Morgana. ♥♥&hearts
- The girls looking out of the window. ♥♥&hearts
- Arthur manhandling Merlin, oh my. THIS, this is why I love this show. ♥♥&hearts The way he sort of TACKLES Merlin and then twists his arm, because he cares and Merlin is being foolish and distraught. Arthur is such a physical guy, in a way I'm not sure he himself realises, and while he may not hug Merlin when he's happy, he will tackle him to stop him from doing something stupid. OH BOYS.
- This episode brought back my love for Gaius and renewed my Uther/Gaius zeal. It's funny, how incredibly vulnerable Uther is to the Witchfinder's words at the beginning - and why wouldn't he be? He had sex with the troll. And when the one in power is so utterly vulnerable to such tricks, the kingdom is in danger indeed. Uther has discarded Gaius in the past as well, and it was good to see him called on his crap for once, even though it's interesting that Gaius calls him on it now, when *he* has been persecuted. I continue to resent what he has done to Morgana, but the meaty backstoryness was fabulous and his desire to sacrifice himself for Merlin and Morgana again makes him a very fascinating character in my eye.
- Uther apologised. That's the second episode in a row (well, in the previous episode he was trying and then Arthur deflected, but still).
- Women only want to look pretty. Really, show?
- The Witchfinder was appropriately creepy.
- Gwen does know about Morgana, right? The only reason she doesn't mention it because Morgana is so terrified and she does not wish to pry it out of her. The looks Gwen kept shooting Morgana? I have difficulty believing she doesn't know.
- VERY, VERY EXCITED FOR THE NEXT EPISODE. MORGAUSE!
