Oct. 30th, 2004 04:29 pmThere was a time when I used to think Buffy/Giles was badbadWRONG, and that I would never, ever *dream* of reading that pairing. Now is not that time.
*facepalm*
Also, hi. I realise that I haven't updated in ages, but I'd been out of town for a week or so, visiting my grandfather, my kitties, catching up with old friends and such. It was fun, but damn it's good to be home. I missed fandom *so much*. *g*
My grandfather lives in a small town (or shall we say a medium-sized town?); a place where I originally hail from. Every now and then my old friends and I get together over there, squeeing over new things and sighing over old things. These are the people who know me from school, know all about my stupid school gaffes that I would never tell anyone (well, except maybe a few close friends), and I know everything about them in turn. It's feels so *good* when we get together, like it's all like old times and we're still in school together... *sigh* Anyway, the thing about small towns is that when things change, you'll always notice - even more so when you don't actually live there anymore. And this time, when we hung around, going to all the old places and sighing nostalgically about past events, I really noticed how *much* things have changed. All the 'older' people (i.e people in their twenties; stop laughing) we took for granted have moved away, either to another place, or too caught up in their lives to sit in a coffee house and chat pointlessly for hours. And sitting in our places, doing the same things that *we* used to do, were kids I couldn't recognise (or could, vaguely, like "He's X's BROTHER? I don't believe it!). These kids looked so young. Looking at them made me feel almost... old.
Does this make any sense? Don't suppose so. *g*

Date: 2004-10-30 11:51 am (UTC)And, hey, I know everything about "He's X's BROTHER? I don't believe it!). These kids looked so young! My own brother is one of those kids looking at whom makes me feel old. All of a sudden, he was grown up. It's scary.

Date: 2004-10-31 01:20 pm (UTC)Yes, that's probably it. Puberty was... *shudder* I enjoyed it while it lasted, despite all the crap, but I'm very, very glad it's over.

I get that feeling every now and then when I look at my sister. Scary indeed. *g*
